Responsibilities

Responsible for designing a treatment plan and accurately calculating the delivery of radiation treatment based on the Radiation Oncologist’s prescribed course of radiation therapy and according to established practices and standards.   In addition to the Medical Physicist duties the selected candidate is expected to be or become qualified and capable in treatment planning for all treatment planning for external beam radiotherapy.  Calculates treatment machine settings, documents calculations, and records treatment data in therapy chart. May perform or assist in the receiving, loading, and shipping of radioactive materials. 

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

  1. Master’s degree in Physical or Biological Sciences required
  2. Therapeutic Medical Physics Certification by American board of radiology preferred. Candidates in process of becoming certified will be considered.
  3. Completed 2 years of clinical training under the supervision of a Board Certified Physicist or a completed residency in Therapeutic Medical Physics.
  4. Current Basic Life Support/BCLS (AHA) certification, preferred
  5. Strong verbal and written skills.
  6. Comprehensive Knowledge of Federal, State and Local regulatory standards required.
