Supervision is defined as the physical presence of a license Registered Nurse in the practice area or unit where the GRN is providing patient care. The GRN is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process and that is within the scope of practice as determined by the state board of nursing and organizational policies and procedures. The GRN is responsible and accountable for the care provided to his/her assigned patients and working collaboratively with the multi-disciplinary team. The GRN will communicate changes in the patients clinical condition to the supervising licensed Registered Nurse and the physician in regards to changes in the patients clinical condition including vital signs, cardiac monitoring, diagnostic results and other related symptomatology. He/she will respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment and document all relevant data in the electronic medical record. The GRNs temporary Nurse Permit will expire after 3 months from the date the permit is issued. During this time the GRN must successfully complete the NCLEX-RN.
