Responsibilities

The NICU Neonatal Nurse Practitioner manages patients in the NICU under the direction and indirection supervision of the Medical Director and/or his designees and the Nursing Director according to the established nursing standardized procedures.  This role is a leadership position in the department and the individual is responsible for effective time management, resource utilization, and demonstration of positive role modeling.

 

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES:

Coordinate and assist with data collection for VON/CPQCC and other ongoing review as requested. Participation in developmental follow up clinic by doing physical assessments and assist in identifying services needed.  Obtain information and interpret information in terms of the patient’s needs. Demonstrates the knowledge of growth and development. Understands the range of treatment needed as appropriate to the ages of the patients served. Attends low and high-risk deliveries to assist in the transition of the neonate. Stabilizes new admission including placement of endotracheal tubes, umbilical catheters, urinary catheters, and other procedures as may be required including lumbar puncture, chest tubes insertion etc…. according to the approved standardized procedures. Documentation in the medical record with pertinent information and results of the physical assessment. Provide daily assessments, write daily progress notes and written orders with the guidelines of the standardized procedures. Participation in neonatal transports to or from facilities as required. Assist with management of ventilators, CPAP, and O2 administration using accepted modalities. Completion of annual competencies and participates in the development and education of annual competencies.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1.     Current California RN license and Nurse Practitioner Certificate

2.     Minimum 5 years clinical experience

3.     Certification as Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

4.     Current American Heart Association BLS Certification (maintain current at all times)

5.     Demonstrated clinical competence and leadership skills

6.     Demonstrated ability to present self in positive and professional manner

7.     Preferred: Master’s degree

The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire and will be dependent on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to geographic location, skill set, experience, education, credentials, and licensure. Additionally, employees in this position may be eligible to participate in the Company’s annual discretionary bonus program. Discretionary bonuses, if any, are based on a number of factors, which include but are not limited to individual and Company performance.
