Responsibilities

The Priest Chaplain will be responsible for the religious and spiritual needs of the patients, families and their visitors, as well as hospital staff members. The Chaplain will respond in a timely manner to all requests for spiritual care and assistance. The Chaplain will assess the religious and spiritual needs of the client, and address or assist in addressing these needs whenever possible. The Chaplain will offer spiritual support and guidance where appropriate.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  1. Ordination in a recognized ecclesial tradition. In good standing with the ecclesial authority and in good standing with their faith organization.
  2. Minimum 2 years in spiritual services environment (Hospital, Nursing Home, Hospice, Military Chaplaincy).
  3. Certification through NACC, APC or other acceptable accrediting organization, or be eligible for certification; with four units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) completed, preferred.
  4. Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
  5. Bachelor's degree required, M.Div preferred
  6. Ordination in a recognized ecclesial tradition and in good standing with their faith organization.
  7. There should be a strong understanding of Catholic Health care ministry and the Ethical and Religious Directives from the USCCB preferred.
  8. Catholic Priest or Deacon preferred.
