The Medical Director is responsible for providing clinical and administrative leadership for the Hospitalist Service. The Medical Director position is comprised of 0.2 FTE administrative and 0.8 FTE clinical time. The Medical Director is required to maintain sufficient clinical time to remain competent in their specialty. Develops and administers a comprehensive hospitalist program that responds to our patient’s and medical staff’s needs and supports the organization’s overall mission, philosophy, and goals to efficiently and effectively manage the care of bedded patients; provides leadership, direction and clinical supervision in accordance with the organizational and departmental goals and objectives. The Medical Director is responsible for ensuring the provision of high quality, evidence-based, and patient-centered clinical care.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

• Medical Doctorate or Doctorate of Osteopathy from an accredited medical school and completion of an approved residency program
• Board Certification
• Must have a current and valid license to practice medicine in the State in which the job duties will be performed.
• Leadership experience preferred.
• Must have minimum of two (2) years clinical experience as a practicing hospitalist.
• Must have Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support certification.
• Must have working knowledge of hospital regulations related to The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and The Joint Commission.
• Must have knowledge of the continuum of care for bedded acute care patients.
• Excellent leadership, interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build consensus and engage physicians.
