Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse provides direct patient care within the scope of practice in the Outpatient Patient Services setting. The registered nurse communicates with physicians, the director of surgical services, the house supervisor, and co-workers as appropriate about changes in the patient’s clinical condition, including the results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology. The registered nurse is able to respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition or response to treatment.

 

The Registered Nurse coordinates the care of the patient with the surgeon and/or anesthesiologist, directs and guides, and other personnel while maintaining standards of care within the Outpatient Department. Works with other departments and co-workers to provide quality patient care across the continuum, efficient patient flow, unit maintenance, and organization. Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards, and hospital or unit policies and procedures. Responsible for participation in performance improvement activities, unit meetings, and in-services. Acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1. Current and valid state RN License.

2. Current BLS (AHA or ARC) certificate upon hire and maintaining current.

3. Current ACLS (AHA or ARC): 30 days upon hire and maintenance.

4. A current PALS (AHA or ARC) certificate is required for 30 days upon hire and must be maintained current.

5. Previous acute care hospital experience is preferred.

6. Moderate Sedation competency completed within 30 days upon hire.

7. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
