Responsibilities

We are seeking a Cardiac Catheterization Technologist internally referred to as our Cath Lab/IR Technologist (Certified) who will operate under the oversight of a physician (either a Cardiologist or Radiologist). The role involves assisting in procedures by scrubbing or monitoring physiological and hemodynamic data relevant to diagnostic and/or therapeutic procedures conducted in the cardiovascular lab at Providence Medical Center (Kansas City, KS), a member of Prime Healthcare.

 

Shift’s Available:  Days (9 hour days)

Employment Type: Full Time

Hours: 7:30am – 5:00pm

 

** If you possess an ARRT certification or are a licensed Registered Nurse (RN), we're prepared to provide training to suitable candidates for this role. Additionally, X-ray Techs with ARRT certification are also encouraged to apply. No experience needed, entry-level **

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • assist cardiologists during cardiac catheterization procedures, which involve threading catheters through blood vessels to diagnose and treat various heart/cardiovascular conditions
  • ensure that all necessary equipment, including catheters, monitors, and imaging devices, are properly set up and functioning before each procedure
  • help prepare patients for procedures by explaining the process, answering questions, and ensuring they are comfortable and properly positioned on the procedure table
  • during procedures, monitor patients' vital signs, electrocardiograms (EKGs), and hemodynamic data to ensure their safety and provide real-time information to the medical team
  • may scrub in and assist the physician directly during the procedure, handling catheters, guidewires, and other equipment as needed
  • accurately document all aspects of the procedure, including patient information, medications administered, and any complications that arise
  • help transfer patients to recovery areas after the procedure, monitor their condition and provide any necessary post-procedure instructions or assistance
  • participate in quality assurance, quality improvement initiatives and training new staff to ensure that procedures are performed safely and effectively
  • track the par level of all instruments and supplies, and provide support for both invasive and noninvasive cardiac procedures in all capacities for the cardia cath lab
  • other duties and responsibilities maybe assigned depending on department need

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • ARRT-R and license as required by State or Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) required
  • Previous experience in a Cardiovascular Lab; preferred
  • Cardiovascular technologist training program with emphasis in invasive cardiology and hemodynamic monitoring preferred
  • BCLS (AHA) required upon hire and maintain current
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); required within 30 days of hire
  • Proficient computer skills
