Responsibilities

The Administrative Director of Graduate Medical Education, who will function in a leadership role as the DIO,is responsible for providing oversight to the development, direction and coordination of all graduate medical education activities at Suburban Community Hospital/Prime Healthcare System. These activities include the supervision of operations, regulatory compliance with Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME), American Osteopathic Association (AOA), and other accreditation organizations, specialty/subspecialty specific programs, and Institutional Requirements. In addition to the ACGME, a number of other departments and regulatory bodies impose requirements on the DIO. These agencies include American Osteopathic Association, legal, finance, practice management, administration, National Match Service, NRMP, Joint Commission. The position requires an experienced individual who has a passion for residency education and the leadership vision to develop regional GME programs within the healthcare system. Discussion to develop additional training programs within the hospital system are in development, the DIO will oversee development of other hospitals� GME programs, including hiring directors and staff to develop programs for those hospitals. This position will serve as the Program Coordinator responsible for the operational management of the Family Medicine accredited residency training program and rotating medical students. The Program Coordinator will continually assess and direct a wide range of programmatic issues including long range planning, recruiting trainees, developing projects, analyzing administrative workflow, maintaining databases, communicating with faculty and trainees regarding a range of issues, and managing internal and external program relations.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  1. MD or DO- Board certified and clinically active or, PhD and/or advanced degree person with GME leadership experience.
  2. If physician, completed AOA or ACGME Residency training and maintains current AOA/ABMS Board Certification.
  3. Minimum of 5 years leadership experience in Medical Education. Participation in all phases of education accreditation.
  4. Experience in developing new residency and fellowship programs.
  5. Served as DME/DIO or Residency Program Training Director or Program Coordinator. Active in National Medical Education Professional Development Groups (AODME, AAMC, GRA, AHME, other specialty Program Director groups). Faculty Development and Quality Improvement / Patient Safety leadership experience responsibilities highly preferred.
