Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Program Director of Anesthesiology to oversee and lead our anesthesiology residency program. The Program Director will be responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the program, ensuring compliance with accreditation standards and fostering an environment of excellence in education and patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement curriculum for the anesthesiology residency program in accordance with accreditation standards and best practices.
  • Recruit, mentor, and supervise faculty members, residents, and fellows within the program.
  • Conduct regular assessments and evaluations of residents' clinical performance, academic progress, and professional development.
  • Provide ongoing guidance and support to residents in their research endeavors, scholarly activities, and career planning.
  • Monitor and maintain program compliance with accreditation standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in institutional quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the advancement of patient safety and clinical outcomes.
  • Stay current with advancements in the field of anesthesiology and incorporate innovative teaching methods and technologies into the program.

Qualifications

  • Medical degree (MD or DO) from an accredited institution.
  • Board certification in anesthesiology.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in the state of practice.
  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience in anesthesiology, with significant experience in teaching and supervising residents
  • Prior leadership or administrative experience within an academic medical center or residency program preferred.
  • Demonstrated commitment to medical education, scholarship, and professional development.
  • Knowledge of accreditation standards and regulations governing residency programs.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Specialty expertise and at least three years of documented educational and/or administrative experience, or qualifications acceptable to the Review Committee.
  • Be familiar with and comply with ACGME and Review Committee policies and procedures as outlined in the ACGME Manual of Policies and Procedures.
  • Obtain review and approval of the sponsoring institution’s GMEC/DIO before submitting to the ACGME.
