Responsibilities

We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist II (PRN), also referred to as a Medical Laboratory Technologist (Med Tech) / Medical Laboratory Technician at St Joseph Medical Center a member of Prime Healthcare. The Clinical Lab Scientist II (CLS II) requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively as well as independently within a healthcare team. They play an important role in the diagnostic process, contributing significantly to patient care and treatment. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PRN.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • perform laboratory tests on blood, tissues, and other bodily fluids to aid in the diagnosis of diseases and conditions
  • interpret lab test results and identify any abnormalities
  • ensure the accuracy and reliability of these results to assist doctors in making informed decisions about patient care
  • implement and monitor the quality control program to maintain high standards in laboratory testing, including calibration and maintenance of laboratory instruments and equipment
  • keep accurate and detailed records of all laboratory tests performed and their results, input data into our laboratory information systems
  • ensure all laboratory operations comply with hospital policies, governmental regulations, and accreditation requirements

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • ASCP certification, or equivalent required
  • minimum two years of hospital laboratory work experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements as stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489)
  • current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required
