Responsibilities

We are seeking a Clinical Laboratory Scientist II (Days), also referred to as a Medical Technologist (Med Tech) at Saint John Hospital a member of Prime Healthcare. The Clinical Lab Scientist II (CLS II) requires a blend of technical expertise, analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team. They play an important role in the diagnostic process, contributing significantly to patient care and treatment.

 

Bonus Options: up to $10,000 (Paid out as stipends every 90 days)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • perform laboratory tests on blood, tissues, and other bodily fluids to aid in the diagnosis of diseases and conditions, this may include routine tests as well as specialized tests
  • interpret lab test results and identify any abnormalities, ensure the accuracy and reliability of these results to assist doctors in making informed decisions about patient care
  • monitor quality control procedures to maintain high standards in laboratory testing, you may also calibrate and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment
  • keep accurate and detailed records of all laboratory tests performed and their results, input data into our laboratory information systems
  • ensure all laboratory operations comply with hospital policies, governmental regulations, and accreditation requirements
  • occasionally interact with patients, especially when collecting specimens, and explain procedures to ensure patient comfort and cooperation

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • ASCP certification or equivalent, or specialized military training in laboratory science required
  • two years of hospital laboratory work experience preferred
  • bachelor’s degree in chemical, physical, biological science, or Medical Laboratory Technician from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements as stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1489)
  • current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required
