Responsibilities

The Med Surg RN is responsible for the delivery of safe patient care utilizing the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients admitted with nonsurgical (medical) and surgical conditions
  • communicate with physician about changes in the patients’ clinical condition, including cardiac monitoring, results of diagnostic studies and symptomatology
  • excellent observation and assessment skills
  • respond quickly and accurately to changes in condition and/or response to treatment
  • skilled in recording symptoms, reactions, and progress
  • administer medical treatments and examinations
  • develop, plan, implement, evaluate, document, and manage nursing care
  • direct and guide the activities of other nursing personnel, while maintaining standards of care within the Medical/Surgical unit
  • work to promote health, prevent disease, and help patients cope with illness
  • health educators for patients, families, and communities

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current preferred.
4. Previous Acute Care hospital experience preferred.
5. Ventilator Management experience preferred.
6. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
