Responsibilities

We are seeking a Cardiology Nurse (PRN), internally referred to as our Cardiac Stress RN at Providence Medical Center (Kansas City, KS), a member of Prime Healthcare. Cardiovascular nurses assist cardiologists by offering direct care to patients with acute or chronic cardiovascular diseases. They may use electrocardiograms, stress tests, and vascular monitoring to evaluate the heart health of our patients. This position is on a per diem basis, meaning PRN.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • assess patients' cardiac health through physical examinations, reviewing medical histories, and monitoring vital signs such as blood pressure, heart rate, and oxygen saturation
  • monitor patients' cardiac rhythms and interpret electrocardiograms (ECGs) to identify irregularities or signs of distress
  • administer medications as prescribed by physicians, including intravenous medications, oral medications, and intravenous infusions, including medications to regulate blood pressure, control arrhythmias, or manage heart failure symptoms
  • provide education to patients and their families about cardiac conditions, medications, lifestyle modifications, and self-care techniques to manage their condition effectively
  • as a Cardiology RN you may assist physicians during cardiac procedures such as nuclear stress test
  • respond to cardiac emergencies such as cardiac arrests or acute myocardial infarctions (heart attacks) by initiating cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) protocols

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Active state Registered Nursing (RN) License; required
  • Current BCLS (AHA), ACLS certificate upon hire and maintain current required
  • One (1) year clinical experience in a Cardiovascular Lab doing cardiac work or in a Critical Care area; required
