Responsibilities

As a Behavioral Health CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) at our facility, you will play a crucial role in providing compassionate and skilled care to individuals with mental health and behavioral challenges. Your primary responsibilities will include assisting patients with activities of daily living, maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment, and supporting their overall well-being.

 

The ideal candidate for this position will have a genuine passion for helping others and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills. You must be able to work collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team, as well as independently when necessary.

 

Some key responsibilities of the Behavioral Health CNA include:

 

1. Assisting patients with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and personal hygiene.
2. Monitoring patients' physical and emotional well-being, reporting any changes or concerns promptly to the nursing staff.
3. Providing support during group therapy sessions, recreational activities, and other treatment programs.
4. Encouraging patients to participate in their care plan and assisting them in identifying and expressing their needs.
5. Maintaining a safe and clean environment by assisting with housekeeping tasks, organizing patient belongings, and ensuring proper storage of medical supplies.
6. Documenting patient care activities, observations, and interventions in an accurate and timely manner.
7. Participating in mandatory in-service training programs to maintain certification and stay current on best practices in behavioral health care.
8. Adhering to all HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act) regulations and maintaining confidentiality of patient information at all times.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1. Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, required.
2. Current BLS upon hire and maintain current.
3. Possesses knowledge of Medical Terminology.
4. Minimum six months’ previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office preferred.
