Responsibilities

We are seeking a Surgical Nurse (Part Time), also referred to as our Operating Room Nurse, a OR RN who will work in our Ambulatory Surgery department at South Kansas City Surgicenter a member of Prime Healthcare. As a Surgical Nurse or OR Nurse you will specialize the care of patients undergoing surgical procedures in a surgery center. Their responsibilities will be for intraoperative care of the surgical procedure.

 

Shift’s Available:  Days (No weekend, nights, or holidays)

Employment Type: Part-Time

Hours: 6:45am – 3:15pm (No Call)

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • conduct pre-procedure assessments to evaluate patients' medical histories, current conditions, and any potential risks associated with the procedure
  • prepare the operating room, which may include setting up equipment, positioning devices, medication, specimens, and/or implants
  • transfer and position the patient on the operating table, ensuring safety and comfort of the patient
  • during the procedure, assist the healthcare provider by preparing the patient, organizing supplies and equipment, and providing support as needed, they may also prepare local anesthesia or medications as directed by the provider
  • maintain knowledgeable of each phase of the peri-operative process and perform safe patient care throughout the entire peri-op patient experience

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • current and valid state RN License
  • current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current
  • current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • current PALS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current
  • minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training
  • Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
