Responsibilities

We are seeking an Electrophysiology Technologist, also referred to a as an EP Technologist at St Joseph Medical Center a member of Prime Healthcare in Kansas City, MO. An EP Technologist (EP Techs) are a specialized healthcare professional who assist with cardiac electrophysiology procedures in our hospital. These procedures focus on diagnosing and treating irregular heart rhythms, known as arrhythmias. Electrophysiology Technologists play an important role in the electrocardiology department or electrophysiology lab (EP lab) where these procedures are conducted.

 

Bonus Options: up to $10,000 (Paid out as stipends every 90 days)

Shift’s Available:  Days (Monday thru Friday)

Employment Type: Full Time (No call, weekends, or holidays)

Hours: 8hr or 10hr Options

 

** If you are a Registered Technologist (R.T) through American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) without being a Registered Electrophysiology, you are encouraged to apply, if you are wanting to learn the EP side of our department. **

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • support cardiologists in catheter ablation, an electrophysiology procedure that involves threading a catheter through blood vessels to the heart to deliver energy to small areas of heart tissue, effectively disrupting abnormal electrical pathways
  • assist with the implantation of pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators (ICDs), devices that regulate and monitor heart rhythms
  • set up and operate highly specialized EP equipment, including 3D mapping systems, electrogram recording devices, and fluoroscopy machines (imaging technology used during these procedures)
  • responsible for maintaining high-quality imaging and accurate recordings of the heart’s electrical activity to ensure safe and effective procedures
  • monitor the patient’s heart rate, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and other vital signs throughout the procedure, essential to detect any adverse reactions and ensure patient safety
  • help prepare patients for procedures, which include explaining the process, positioning them on the procedure table, and ensuring proper sterilization to prevent infections
  • after the procedure, assist with patient monitoring in recovery and handle post-procedure documentation, which is vital for accurate medical records
  • respond to emergencies, such as arrhythmias that can be life-threatening, by assisting in CPR, defibrillation, or adjusting pacemaker settings as directed by the physician

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • ARRT-R and license as required by State, Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) OR Registered Electrophysiology Specialist required
  • Previous experience in a Cardiovascular Lab; preferred
  • Cardiovascular technologist training program with emphasis in invasive cardiology and hemodynamic monitoring preferred
  • BCLS (AHA) required upon hire and maintain current
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS); required within 30 days of hire
  • Proficient computer skills
