Responsibilities

We are seeking a Director of Surgical Services, also referred to as our Director of Surgery at Shasta Regional Medical Center a member of Prime Healthcare in Redding California. The Director of Surgical Services is a senior healthcare administrator responsible for overseeing the surgical department (Surgery Department) at our hospital in Redding, California. The Director of Surgery also oversees Ambulatory Surgery, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Robotic Surgery, and Cardiovascular Surgery. They also ensure that surgical procedures are conducted efficiently and safely, and they work to improve the quality of patient care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • maintains performance improvement activities within the Surgery Department and participates in Performance Improvement (PI) activities/ formulates budget for the Surgical Department
  • in charge of daily operations in the surgical department, ensuring that surgical teams work efficiently, and that patient care is streamlined from preoperative preparation through recovery
  • oversee hiring, training, and scheduling for surgeons, surgical nurse, anesthesiologists, and support staff, fostering teamwork and strong culture patient care
  • manage the Surgical Department financial resources, overseeing expenses related to surgical supplies, equipment, and staffing, and work to optimize the budget in the Surgery Department
  • shape the Surgical Department’s long-term goals, working with hospital executives to implement new technologies, develop specialized programs, and increase department capabilities
  • coordinate the clinical, administrative, and financial functions within our Surgery Department, working to create a high-performance environment for the entire surgical team

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • Current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
  • Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)-(AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  • A minimum of two years supervisory/management experience necessary.
  • At least two (2) years of experience in Surgical Nursing.
  • Current Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) (AORN) certificate(s) upon hire, preferred.
  • Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

FACILITY SPECIFIC:

  1. Current PALS (AHA) Certificate upon hire and maintain current.

Our Total Rewards package includes, but is not limited to, paid time off, a 401K retirement plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and many more voluntary benefit options.  Benefits may vary based on employment status, i.e. full-time, part-time, per diem or temporary.  A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $99,195.20 to $170,000.00 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
