Responsibilities

The Lead Echocardiogram Technologist is responsible for overseeing the echocardiography department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality cardiac imaging services. This role involves performing complex echocardiograms, training, and mentoring junior staff, and maintaining equipment and protocols. The lead technologist will collaborate closely with cardiologists and other healthcare professionals to provide accurate diagnostic information. Key responsibilities include managing workflow, implementing best practices, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and contributing to departmental initiatives aimed at improving patient care and operational efficiency. Strong technical skills, leadership abilities, and effective communication are essential for success in this position.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1.     Associate's or bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography, Cardiovascular Technology, or a related field.

2.     Completion of an accredited echocardiography program.

3.     ARDMS or CCI credential required.

4.     Basic Life Support (BLS) certified from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire and maintain current.

5.     Typically, 3-5 years of experience in echocardiography.

6.     Previous leadership or supervisory experience is preferred.

7.     Proficiency in performing a variety of echocardiographic procedures.

8.     Certification in echocardiography (e.g., RDCS, RCS) from a recognized professional organization.

9.     Ongoing professional development through workshops, seminars, and conferences related to cardiac imaging.

10.   Familiarity with the latest echocardiography technologies and software.
