Responsibilities

We are seeking an Operating Room Technician (Part Time), sometimes referred to as a Surgical Technician or Scrub Tech at Saint John Hospital a member of Prime Healthcare in Leavenworth, KS. An OR Tech will prepare, maintain, and assist in the operating room (OR) to ensure surgeries run smoothly and safely, including management surgical instruments. You will be part of the surgical team in or minor procedures department, working closely with surgeons, CRNA, and nurses to create a safe and efficient environment for surgery, helping surgeries proceed smoothly.

 

Shift’s Available:  Days (No weekends, call, or holidays)

Employment Type: Part-time

 

**If you have experience as a Scrub Tech or an OR Tech, you are encouraged to apply, experience will be needed!

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • prepare the operating room by setting up surgical instruments, sterilizing instrumentation, and arranging necessary supplies such as surgical drapes, sponges, and gowns
  • assist with preparing and draping the surgical site on the patient to maintain a sterile field, helping prevent infections
  • hand instruments, sponges, and other supplies to surgeons and nurses as needed throughout the procedure, know the functions of each tool, and anticipate what the surgeon may need next
  • monitor the sterile field and ensure it remains uncontaminated, if anything becomes unsterile, it is their responsibility to quickly replace it or inform the team
  • count all instruments, sponges, and other materials before and after surgery
  • reset the operating room after surgery, ensure it is stocked and organized for the next procedure, following strict protocols for safety and hygiene

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • high school diploma or equivalent required
  • current BLS (American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted) upon hire and maintain current
