The function of the Vascular Sonographer position within the Department of Diagnostic Imaging is to perform all phases of diagnostic vascular sonography. These procedures include but are not necessarily limited to Abdominal Vascular (Liver, Renal, and Mesenteric), L.E. & U.E. Venous Doppler, Carotid, Renal Transplant, Liver Transplant, Pancreases transplant, Finger and Toe PPG's Chronic Venous, TCD and Nielsen Cold Challenge procedures. The vascular Sonographer promotes mission statement by delivering high quality, cost effective, family-orientated service. This position helps to create a collaborative environment by integrating education, research and clinical leadership. Sonographer with infant, pediatric, adult and geriatric patients. Promotes the smooth and efficient operation of the department through the appropriate utilization and management of all clerical functions within the department including document handling and disposition, interpersonal relationships and information gathering and dispersion. Meets all requirements set forth by accreditation (ICAEL and ICAVL) and governing bodies, including JCAHO, federal and state bodies, and department-specific requirements. Performs other duties and responsibilities as required
Education and Work Experience
1. Associate degree in vascular technology/ General Ultrasound required, or minimum one year experience and ARDMS or CCI registry in echo or vascular preferred; bachelor degree in ultrasound preferred
2. CPR certification on hire. BCLS (AHA) certificate within 60 days of hire.
3. Previous experience in performing echocardiograms of all ages preferred, especially hospital-based experience.
4. Effective July 1, 2017 ARDMS (RVT) Required
