Unlicensed personnel require direct and constant supervision by the Laboratory Director or licensed designee (Business and Professions Code 1269).� The duties of the Histotechnician consist of but are not limited to, 1) preparation of specimens for microscopic evaluation by the Pathologist through the use of a microtomy, special staining, histochemistry, and other appropriate techniques in accordance with the Pathology policy and procedures, 2) must be versed in a range of procedures including processing, cutting, embedding of all types of tissue and body fluid samples, 3) the performance of routine and special staining procedures, 4) knowledge of immunohistochemical staining procedures if applicable to job duties, 5) use and maintenance of histology equipment, 6) maintenance of manuals, logs and files appropriate to the department.� 7) other tasks or responsibilities may be assigned by the department manager/director.
Position is casual working less than 19 hours per week on day shift. Must have at least one year experience working as a Histotechnician.
