Responsibilities

We are seeking a CT Technologist (per diem, variable shift), sometimes referred to as a Radiologic Technologist II (Rad Tech) at St. Joseph Medical Center (Kansas City, MO) a member of Prime Healthcare.  As a CT Technologist you will specialize and be responsible for operating CT scanners and X-ray machines to produce cross-sectional images of patient’s internal organs and tissues. You will assist in diagnosing medical conditions and the treatment plan process, by producing high-quality images that help healthcare providers make informed decisions about our patient care.

 

** To perform duties in this position you must be CT certified  or be ARRT-R (X-ray) and CT trained**

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • prepare patients and ensure patients are properly positioned on the Computer Tomography (CT) table and explain the procedure to them with empathy, address any concerns or questions they may have
  • operate CT scanners and/or X-ray machines to obtain images of the targeted body parts, which may involve adjusting the CT scanner settings to optimize image quality while minimizing radiation exposure, radiation safety at all times
  • monitor our patients, as a CT Technologist ensure their comfort and safety throughout the procedure
  • assist other radiologists, as you will work closely with them, who interpret the images you produced by the CT exam you may also assist in administering contrast agents or perform certain procedures
  • accountable for the quality assurance of CT scanners / X-ray machines to ensure they function properly and produce accurate images
  • responsible for maintaining radiologic supplies, making sure the equipment is in good operating order, and following protocols regarding infection control and hygiene
  • participate in Performance Improvement (PI) and Quality Control (QC) activities and assist in maintaining Performance Improvement Programs (PIP)
  • maintain your Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) accredited by the American Heart Association (AHA) and maintain your register status for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  • one year of acute, clinical radiology experience, preferred
  • knowledge of mobile and stationary Radiographic/Fluoroscopic equipment, required
  • extensive knowledge of anatomy and medical terminology, required
  • graduate of a program accredited by ARRT
  • radiology license and fluoroscopy permit as required by State
  • CT ARRT Certification, required
  • BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current
  • proficient computer skills
