The Regional Director, External Communications and Public Relations helps organize and direct all external communications, media relations, crisis communications, regional government affairs, and digital media strategy to develop and build consumer preference and demand for Prime Healthcare’s hospitals and affiliated entities in Illinois. Ensures the quality and effectiveness of the communications/ and PR efforts in accordance with the policies and strategic plans of the hospitals and consistent with administrative guidelines. Provides timely response to media and other requests for information to maintain and enhance the reputation of the hospitals. and directs all external communications that align with the priorities and goals of Prime’s Illinois region facilities. Maintains community relations and has active presence with key stakeholder and governmental representatives in the region.
This position partners with hospital executive teams, service line leaders, internal communications, and HR/benefits department(s), ensuring the quality and effectiveness of communications and public relations are in accordance with Mission and Values and professional expectations of Prime and its hospitals. The role supports and partners with Employee Engagement Committees and Patient Experience teams. Works in partnership with all facilities to ensure external communications are appropriately distributed to all necessary parties. Also develops website content, social media strategy, strategic communications and marketing plans as needed.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
Required qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, Journalism or related field.
2. Must have at least 5 years public relations or communications experience, including at least 3 years’ experience in the healthcare field, preferable in a hospital setting
3. At least 3 years of managerial experience a plus
4. Able to interact confidently with senior level executives, physicians, and other leaders.
5. Experience with applicable software and internet applications, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Cloud, and Canva.
6. Excellent project management ability to plan, organize, monitor projects and meet deadlines.
7. Outstanding verbal and written communication skill, including writing on various topics for various audiences.
