Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Program Director, Faculty shall support the general administration, curriculum planning, recruitment, and teaching and supervision of the ACGME Residency Program. Faculty must support the strategic direction of the Program and shall uphold the standards, quality, and reputation of such. Faculty are expected to support integration of the ACGME Program with physician practices and hospital clinical services in a manner that enhances value and quality, and that promotes an optimal environment for professional practice and medical education. Core faculty members are critical to the success of resident education. They support the program leadership in developing, implementing, and assessing curriculum, mentoring residents, and assessing residents’ progress toward achievement of competence in and the autonomous practice of the specialty. Core faculty members should be selected for their broad knowledge of and involvement in the program, permitting them to effectively evaluate the program. Core faculty members may also be selected for their specific expertise and unique contribution to the program. Core faculty members are engaged in a broad range of activities, which may vary across programs and specialties. Core faculty members provide clinical teaching and supervision of residents, and also participate in non-clinical activities related to resident education and program administration. Examples of these nonclinical activities include, but are not limited to, interviewing, and selecting resident applicants, providing didactic instruction, mentoring residents, simulation exercises, completing the annual ACGME Faculty Survey, and participating on the program’s Clinical Competency Committee, Program Evaluation Committee, and other GME committees. Should have working knowledge of Microsoft platform and GME databases. 

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

 

1.     Bachelor’s degree in Business or Education, preferred.

2.     Current AMA certification in a specialty.

3.     3-5 years’ experience in Graduate Medical Education or Medical School Administration strongly preferred.  Experience with New Innovations or similar residency management system preferred.  Must possess strong interpersonal skills and proven leadership abilities.  Must be able to work collaboratively with executive leadership, physician leadership and with department staff to develop and maintain collegial relationships and teamwork.  Knowledge of institutional accreditation responsibilities including institutional self-study and annual institutional review (AIR) CLER site visit preparations, coordinator support, residency program evaluation and data management.
