We are seeking an Intensive Care RN (Days), sometimes referred to as an ICU RN at Riverview Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare in Gadsden, AL.  These Registered Nurses (RN) play an important role in our hospital by providing advanced care to patients with life-threatening conditions or injuries.  The ICU nurse is directly responsible and accountable for the care given to his/her assigned patients.  These patients require 24/7 nursing and are often intubated, ventilated, an on several medications, so you’ll need to be well versed in all aspects of wellness restoration.

Bonus Options: up to 10,000

Shifts Available: This position is for the RN who likes to work a variable shift of both days and nights 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

• conduct thorough initial assessments and ongoing evaluations of patients' physical, emotional, and mental health
• monitor vital signs, intake/output, and other clinical indicators to detect changes in patient conditions
• recognize and act on warning signs of deterioration, such as changes in heart rate, respiratory rate, or mental status
• safely administer prescribed medications (oral, IV, subcutaneous, intramuscular) and monitor for adverse effects or allergic reactions
• act as a liaison between patients, families, and the healthcare team to ensure the patient's needs are met
• provide patient education on their condition, treatment options, and lifestyle adjustments to support recovery and prevent readmission.
• communicate effectively with doctors, specialists, physical therapists, and social workers to develop and adjust care plans

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. Completion of Critical Care Course preferred.
4. Basic Arrythmia Interpretation within 30 days of hire.
5. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
6. Minimum of one year as a staff RN in acute care hospital, critical care preferred.
7. Critical Care RN (CCRN) Certification preferred.
8. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
