Overview

Saint Mary Hospital in Kankakee, IL, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Operating Room (OR) Nurse – Staff RN to join our surgical team. This role is essential in providing high-quality, patient-centered perioperative nursing care in a fast-paced, state-of-the-art surgical environment. Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:
• Deliver exceptional patient care throughout the perioperative process, including pre-op, intra-op, and post-op phases.
• Assist surgeons and anesthesiologists by preparing and maintaining a sterile surgical environment.
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments, monitor vital signs, and respond to intraoperative complications.
• Ensure proper handling of surgical instruments, equipment, and infection control procedures.
• Advocate for patient safety and adhere to hospital policies, Joint Commission standards, and best practices.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical techs, to ensure seamless operative workflow.
• Maintain accurate electronic health records (EHR) and surgical documentation.
• Educate patients and families about preoperative and postoperative care.
• Support a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and teamwork.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1.      Current and valid state RN License.

2.      Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.

3.      Current ACLS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

4.      Current PALS (AHA) certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.

5.      Minimum of one year previous Perioperative experience or on the job training

6.      Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred

7.      Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $35.35 to $53.58. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
