This position is a Per Diem position.

Responsibilities

St. Mary’s Medical Center is seeking a skilled and compassionate Per Diem Phlebotomy Technician to join our dynamic healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing blood draws and related tasks in a variety of settings, ensuring a high level of patient care and safety. As a per diem position, this role offers flexible scheduling, allowing the technician to support the medical center during peak times, holidays, or when additional staffing is required.

Key Responsibilities:
• Perform venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures on patients of all ages.
• Ensure the correct labeling and handling of blood specimens for testing, maintaining proper documentation.
• Assist with patient identification, ensuring a safe and accurate collection process.
• Adhere to infection control procedures and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure timely and accurate specimen collection.
• Provide compassionate and professional care to patients during the blood draw process.
• Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and alleviating concerns.
• Support the medical center’s overall mission and goals for quality care and patient safety.

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  1. High School Diploma, or equivalent, required.
  2. Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
  3. Minimum 1 year clinical laboratory experience preferred
