Overview

The Employee Health Nurse coordinates employee examinations new hire on-boarding clearances, and worker's compensation issues as requested by Human Resources. Provides emergency evaluation for work related injuries, assures cost effective coordination of treatment, referral to preferred providers, and collaborates with management in development of objectives for employee health services compatible with goals and objectives of the hospital. Documents accurately and helps to maintain required confidential employee and administrative records. Performs safety rounds safety practices are adhered to within all hospital departments in order to maintain a safe environment for patients, physicians, volunteers, visitors and hospital employees.

 

We are seeking an Employee Health LPN at St. Joseph Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare in Kansas City, MO.

 

Shift’s Available:  Monday-Friday Day Shift (Monday or Thursday flexible day off)

Employment Type: Part-Time (32 hours per week)

Hours: 8 Hour Shifts

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Makes rounds to identify possible safety hazards and to evaluate employee work environment.
  • Collaborates with Infection Preventionist to reports to the Public Health Department specific disease entities required by law which are present in hospital employees.
  • Documents statistical information on employee injuries and exposures. Identifies unusual trends or clusters of injuries/exposures, specific studies and ongoing Employee Health concerns.
  • Attends Infection Prevention and Control Committee (IPCC). Prepares detailed information for the Infection Control Committee which includes employee vaccination rates and employee exposures. Supplies the committee with a report on employee health problems, sharps injuries and infection control issues from various hospital departments. May suggest and carry out necessary studies.
  • Participates (in collaboration with the Infection Preventionist) in the annual review and revision of Bloodborne Pathogen, Needle/Sharps safety, tuberculosis control, facility TB Risk assessment
  • Assists in development and implementation of improved patient care procedures and new products relating to safety/infection control.
  • Initiates necessary programs to decrease infection and safety hazards within the hospital.

Qualifications

  • Licensed Practical Nurse 
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in acute care nursing required.
  • Previous experience in employee health, infection control or occupational health strongly preferred.
