Responsibilities

We are looking Director of Medical Staff to join our Team!. This role ensures the efficient and effective operation of the medical staff, including credentialing, privileging, quality improvement, and compliance with regulatory standards. The director also acts as a liaison between the medical staff, hospital administration, and other departments. 

 

  • Leadership and Management:
    • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight to the medical staff office staff. 
       
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures for medical staff operations. 
       
    • Manage the medical staff budget and resources. 
       
    • Supervise, delegate, and coordinate the work of the Medical Staff Services Department. 
       
  • Credentialing and Privileging:
    • Oversee the credentialing and privileging process for physicians and other healthcare professionals. 
       
    • Review and approve credentialing and reappointment applications. 
       
    • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations and accreditation standards related to credentialing. 
       
  • Quality Improvement:
    • Participate in quality improvement activities related to medical staff performance and patient care. 
       
    • Develop and implement professional practice evaluation programs. 
       
    • Support the Medical Staff in implementing performance improvement plans. 
       
  • Compliance and Risk Management:
    • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and guidelines. 
       
       
  • Liaison and Communication:
    • Serve as a liaison between the medical staff, hospital administration, and other departments. 
       
    • Promote communication and collaboration among all stakeholders. 
       
    • Represent the medical staff in meetings and events. 
       
  • Other Duties:
    • Participate in the recruitment and selection of new medical staff members. 
       
    • Stay up-to-date with the latest medical advancements and technology. 
       
    • Develop and maintain effective office procedures and workflows. 
       

 

 

Qualifications

Education and Work Experience

  1. Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent education/experience.
  2. Certification from the National Association of Medical Staff Services as Certified Professional in Medical Services Management (CPMSM), required.
  3. Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS), or equivalent, preferred.
  4. Minimum of five years of management experience in one of the following venues: hospitals, managed care, credentialing verification organizations, or ambulatory care. Three years in medical staff services is required. Experience in working with governance processes is essential.
  5. Must have strong computer, communication and writing skills with knowledge of medical terminology.
