Overview

We are seeking a Neonatal RN Educator, sometimes referred to as a Neonatal Clinical Nurse Educator, Neonatal Education RN Coordinator or NICU Nurse Educator. The NICU Nurse Educator is responsible for providing specialized education, training, and support to nursing staff working in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Their role focuses on enhancing clinical skills, promoting best practices, and ensuring high-quality care for critically ill newborns. 

 

Employment Type: Full Time  

Shifts Available: Days  

Hours: 8 hour – 8:00am to 4:00pm  

Location: Mission Regional Medical CenterMission, TX

**The Neonatal Nurse Educator ensures quality nursing care in the NICU and Nursery through staff training, policy development, mentoring, and compliance with state and national standards, while managing required data collection and reporting. They develop the NICU education plan with leadership, provide outreach education to other facilities, and ensure staff are trained to support neonatal stabilization and resuscitation according to professional standards and the neonatal QAPI Plan.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to): 

  • Develop coordinate and deliver ongoing education programs and clinical training for NICU nurses and healthcare staff while teaching new protocols procedures and updates based on latest evidence and guidelines 
  • Assess and evaluate nursing staff competencies providing coaching remediation and support for orientation and onboarding of new NICU nursing staff 
  • Assist in developing reviewing and updating NICU clinical policies and protocols to align with current standards while ensuring staff compliance with hospital policies regulatory requirements and accreditation standards 
  • Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives within the NICU while analyzing clinical data and feedback to identify educational needs and improve patient outcomes 
  • Serve as a clinical resource and mentor to NICU nursing staff while facilitating access to current literature guidelines and educational materials 
  • Collaborate closely with physician’s respiratory therapists lactation consultants and multidisciplinary team members to support integrated neonatal care 

 

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1. Current and valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State.

2. Three (3) years of clinical experience in neonatal nursing care a. Minimum of one (1) year experience in neonatal nursing care at a NICU that is equivalent to a Regional or Community NICU

3. NRP certificate upon hire and maintain current

4. NRP Instructor preferred

5. Current BCLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
