A GI (Gastrointestinal) technician supports endoscopic procedures and patient care in gastroenterology departments. Their daily tasks involve preparing and maintaining endoscopic equipment, ensuring all tools are sterilized and functional. They assist physicians during procedures like colonoscopies and endoscopies, handing instruments, and managing specimen collection for lab analysis. GI technicians also monitor patient vital signs, offer pre- and post-procedural care, and provide instructions to patients regarding recovery and care protocols. Their role requires excellent organizational skills, knowledge of infection control practices, and the ability to communicate effectively with both patients and healthcare team members to ensure smooth, efficient procedural outcomes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

1. High school diploma or G.E.D. required.
2. An Associate of Science in surgical technology or related field is preferred.
3. Previous experience working in the gastroenterology field is preferred.
4. BCLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
