Under moderate supervision, the Biomedical Engineer II is responsible for maintenance of medical equipment, instrumentation and support system of medium complexity used in healthcare delivery. Duties include, but not limited to inventory assessments, inspection, installation, preventive maintenance and repairs of medical equipment. The candidate is responsible to assist the Divisional/Regional Manager and the Corporate team with all aspects of MEMP including development of financial/operational plans, quality improvement, equipment planning and outside vendor management. The candidate is also responsible for ensuring adherence to various applicable standards that are set by national accreditation and regulatory bodies to ensure patient safety and a safe work environment. Being a frontline staff, this individual shall provide a positive representation of Bio-Medical Services, Inc. by integrating core values into job performance. Travel approximately 40 % of time.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or related relevant field or Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering or related plus 2 years of experience required
2. Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, electro-mechanical and electronic fundamentals, medical equipment function and operation, safety in healthcare facilities, and medical equipment troubleshooting required.
3. Experience in analyzing life-cycle of medical equipment required. In particular demonstrated knowledge in undertaking in-house maintenance/service contract assessments and asset utilization studies.
4. Strong knowledge of TJC, DNV, HFAP, CAP, NFPA, CMS, HIPAA, other applicable standards and regulations required.
5. Good general business skills, high degree of confidentiality, maturity, tactfulness and business ethics.
6. High degree of self-motivation, commitment and integrity.
7. Must exhibit a positive attitude and willingness to learn.
8. Strong planning and organization, critical thinking and decision-making skills.
9. Ability to analyze complex problems and recommend solution.
10. Strong written and verbal communications skills
11. Strong negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
12. Strong computer skills (MS Office, Clinical applications, CMMS systems).
13. Ability to write reports and make presentations on operational and technical issues.
14. Ability to troubleshoot, read schematics and/or blue prints.
15. Field related technical certifications (like A+, CBET, CRES, CLES or CCE) preferred.
16. Valid driver’s license required.
