As an ICU Charge Nurse, you will play a key role in coordinating patient care, mentoring staff, and implementing best practices.

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but are not limited to):

  • Lead and supervise the nursing team within the ICU, ensuring that all staff adhere to best practices and hospital protocols. Promote a collaborative environment to achieve patient care excellence.
  • Oversee the admission, assessment, and treatment of patients in the ICU. Develop and implement individualized care plans, ensuring a high standard of care tailored to each patient's needs.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to ICU nursing staff, promoting continuous learning and professional development. Conduct regular performance evaluations and encourage skill enhancement.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge and application of critical care procedures and technologies. Perform complex medical procedures when required and act swiftly in emergencies to stabilize patients.
  • Coordinate and manage resources, including staffing, supplies, and equipment, to ensure efficient and effective operations within the ICU.
  • Maintain clear and open lines of communication with the healthcare team, patients, and their families. Facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration to ensure comprehensive care delivery.
  • Utilize critical thinking and decisive action in crisis situations, providing direction and support to staff and liaising with medical professionals as needed.

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have: 
  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Previous supervisory experience, one to two years, in acute care hospital, ICU/CVICUsetting, preferred.
  • Minimum of one year staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting; Critical Care setting preferred.
  • CCRN (AACN) within 2 years of hire, preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred.
