The Robotic Program Coordinator, in collaboration with the Director of Surgical Services, is responsible for coordinating the clinical and administrative aspects of the Surgical Robotic Program.
The Robotic Program Coordinator is a Register Nurse (RN). The RN is responsible for ordering and maintaining specific instruments, accessories and ancillary supplies related to robotic surgery and assisting in the management of inventory and PAR levels. Under the supervision of the operating surgeon, functions as the Registered Nurse in robotic surgery for all surgical specialties demonstrating thorough knowledge of the surgery, anticipating next steps with expert didactic skills. In collaboration with Medical Staff and the Director of Surgical Services, provides regularly scheduled educational opportunities to the Medical and Nursing staff. Assists in the education of the Sterile Processing staff regarding cleaning and sterilization of the robotic instrumentation based on best practices. Support the training and development of new surgeons in Robotic Surgery.
Demonstrates competence to troubleshoot the Robot and the equipment during procedures and works with the vendor to ensure that preventative maintenance is scheduled and completed in a timely manner. Serves as the point person for all daVinci/Robot related questions. Collaborates with the Medical Staff on issues associated with patient care through active participation on the Robotic Committee. Responsible for adherence to regulations, standards and hospital or unit policies and procedures.
Responsible for participation in Performance Improvement activities, unit meetings and in-services. Acts as a resource for other personnel as appropriate.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Current and valid state RN License.
2. Minimum of 3 years of current Operating Room experience, scrubbing and circulating, in an acute care hospital.
3. Registered Nurse (RN) with a minimum of 2 years of current assisting in robotic cases.
4. Minimum of 2 years of current experience in minimally invasive surgical procedures.
5. Current BLS (AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
6. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
7. CNOR preferred
