The RCP I performs respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician. This role emphasizes the assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation of patient care, taking into consideration age-specific and population-specific needs. In the absence of a supervisor, the RCP I may be assigned as Lead RCP, assuming responsibility for the section or department during their shift.

Perform respiratory therapeutic procedures, including oxygen therapy, nebulizer treatments, airway management, and mechanical ventilation as prescribed.
Conduct pulmonary diagnostic procedures, such as pulmonary function testing, arterial blood gas collection, and spirometry.
Assess patient respiratory status and develop individualized care plans in collaboration with the healthcare team.
Implement physician orders and ensure timely delivery of respiratory care interventions.
Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses accurately and thoroughly in the medical record.
Monitor and adjust respiratory equipment, ensuring proper function and patient safety.
Provide education and guidance to patients and families regarding respiratory care and treatment plans.
Maintain knowledge of current respiratory care practices and participate in continuing education.
Serve as Lead RCP in the absence of a supervisor, overseeing department operations and coordinating staff workflow.
Participate in quality improvement initiatives and departmental performance improvement activities.

The current compensation range for this role is $32.75 per hour to $47.01 per hour.
