Responsibilities

The Assistant General Counsel – Employment (“AGC – Employment”) must be a seasoned employment attorney with at least five (5) years of experience in employment litigation and counseling.  This position provides legal support for Prime Healthcare Management, Inc. (“PHMI”) and affiliated companies within the Prime Healthcare network on a wide range of employment issues across multiple states.  The AGC – Employment will be responsible for supervising paralegals on the Labor and Employment Team. The AGC – Employment will be responsible for providing strategic advice and counsel on employment issues, preparing employment policies and agreements, conducting employment audits, conducting employment training, and managing a high volume of employment litigation. The AGC – Employment will work closely with Human Resources and Leadership at the corporate and Facility level and must be able to identify business needs or goals and partner with Leadership to address risk while also meeting business needs and goals. The AGC – Employment must be experienced with a wide range of employment claims, including discrimination, accommodation, wrongful termination, and wage and hour class and collective claims.   This position will be located at an assigned Facility or the Corporate offices in Ontario, California; however, with prior approval some remote work is permissible. This position requires local and interstate travel when necessary or as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

Required qualifications:

 

1.    J.D. from ABA Accredited Law School.

2.    Member in Good Standing of State Bar of California or other State.

3.    Five (5) years of prior legal experience in law firm, public sector, insurance sector, and/or in-house counsel position.

 

Preferred qualifications:

 

1.    Seven (7) years of prior legal experience in law firm, public sector, insurance sector, and/or in-house counsel position.

2.    One or two (1-2) years of prior legal experience in-house, preferably with a healthcare company.

3.    Trial or arbitration hearing experience, preferably with some experience as first chair.

4.    Experience in the healthcare industry, preferably with hospitals.

Our Total Rewards package includes, but is not limited to, paid time off, a 401K retirement plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and many more voluntary benefit options.  Benefits may vary based on employment status, i.e. full-time, part-time, per diem or temporary.  A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $153,753.60 to $249,600.00 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
