Responsibilities

The Imaging Systems Engineer will lead the architecture, implementation, and continuous improvement of advanced imaging IT solutions across the healthcare enterprise. This role focuses on PACS, voice recognition systems, and custom interface development, with a special emphasis on defining and optimizing clinical workflows. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with a deep understanding of radiology, cardiology and imaging operations, while also contributing to the development and protection of intellectual property (IP) related to proprietary tools and system enhancements. This position requires the ability to independently identify and fulfill responsibilities with minimal oversight, especially on critical matters. The role frequently involves exercising discretion and independent judgment, evaluating different options, and making informed decisions. The position is expected to effectively prioritize tasks, manage time efficiently, and ensure deadlines are consistently met.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Biomedical Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
  2. Five (5)+ years of experience in healthcare IT, specifically imaging informatics.
  3. Proficiency in PACS (e.g., Infinitt Sectra, GE, Philips, Fuji, Agfa), DICOM standards, and HL7/FHIR protocols.
  4. Hands-on experience with voice recognition platforms (Nuance, M*Modal, etc.).
  5. Strong scripting/coding skills (e.g., Python, PowerShell, C#, JavaScript).
  6. Experience with interface engines (e.g., Iguana, InterSystems, Mirth, Rhapsody).
  7. Understands hospital business operations and structure, general requirements in an integrated delivery system, and use of IT applications in the practicing healthcare environment.
  8. Open to travelling up to 50% of the time.

Preferred qualifications:

  1. Certifications: CIIP, PMP, or vendor-specific certifications (e.g., Epic – Radiant or Cupid, Nuance Certified Integrator).
