Responsibilities

The role will involve a mix of trauma care, emergency general surgery, elective general surgery, and some surgical critical care.

  • Provide comprehensive surgical care for trauma patients, including initial evaluation, resuscitation, operative intervention, and postoperative management in a Level II Trauma Center.
  • Perform emergency general surgery procedures (e.g., for acute appendicitis, bowel obstruction, perforated viscera, cholecystitis, and soft tissue infections).
  • Manage critically ill surgical patients in the ICU, including ventilator management, hemodynamic support, and multidisciplinary rounds.
  • Perform a range of general surgery procedures, both elective and emergent (e.g., hernia repairs, breast surgery, colorectal procedures, and basic thoracic/vascular as needed).
  • Collaborate with emergency medicine, orthopedics, neurosurgery, and other specialties for complex trauma cases.

Qualifications

  • Board-certified or board-eligible in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery (ABS).
  • Completion of a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care, Acute Care Surgery, or Trauma Surgery preferred.
  • Added qualification (or eligibility for) in Surgical Critical Care from the ABS strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in trauma surgery and management of critically injured patients (e.g. prior work in a Level I or II trauma center.
  • Current ATLS certification required (or willing to obtain).
  • Commitment to providing high-quality, patient-centered care.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $430,000-450,000 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
