The Human Resources Manager at Mercy Medical Center is a hands-on, working HR leader responsible for directly managing and executing core Human Resources functions within a hospital setting. This role is deeply involved in the day-to-day operations of employee relations, recruitment support, job evaluation, and workforce programs, and serves as an on-site adviser to hospital and executive leadership. The HR Manager works closely with leaders and employees across departments to ensure consistent, compliant, and practical HR solutions that support patient care and operational needs.
This position requires strong judgment, emotional intelligence, and the ability to personally handle employee relations matters, resolve disputes, and provide real-time guidance. The role is fully onsite and requires daily visibility, approachability, and active engagement across the medical center.
Directly manage and execute Human Resources programs related to employee selection, training, promotion, and employer–employee relations
Personally interview job applicants and support hiring leaders with candidate selection and workforce decisions
Develop, maintain, and update personnel records, documentation, and HR forms, ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance
Hands-on management of employee relations, including addressing disputes, adjusting grievances, and recommending appropriate disciplinary actions
Analyze, classify, and evaluate positions to support job structure, pay practices, and internal equity
Administer employee welfare and recreation programs, maintaining direct oversight and employee engagement
Serve as an on-site adviser to executive and hospital leadership, providing practical guidance on the personnel impact of policies, programs, and organizational changes
Provide day-to-day HR guidance to department leaders to ensure fair, consistent, and compliant application of policies

1. Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of relevant experience required.
2. Master’s Degree preferred
3. At least 2 Years of Healthcare Experience required
4. Must be familiar with the hospital organization; functions of various departments; pay practices and techniques, review techniques; training methods.
5. Familiar with the labor market for recruitment and understanding of accreditation standards.
6. Knowledge of state and federal wage and hour laws required.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $97,656 to $136,344 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
