Location: St. Mary's Medical Center- Blue Springs, MO  

 

We are seeking a compassionate Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) to join our hospital-based team, providing acute care and inpatient rehabilitation services. The SLP will evaluate and treat speech, language, cognitive-communication, voice, and swallowing (dysphagia) disorders in adult and/or pediatric patients.

 

This role involves close collaboration with an interdisciplinary medical team, supporting patients with stroke, neurological conditions, TBI, head and neck cancer, and complex medical needs, with a strong focus on dysphagia management, bedside swallow evaluations, and instrumental assessments (MBS/FEES).

Responsibilities

Essential Duties and Responsibilities (includes, but not limited to):

  • Assess and diagnose speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.

  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans.

  • Provide therapy to improve articulation, fluency, voice disorders, and language comprehension.

  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other relevant professionals.

  • Maintain detailed records of patient evaluation, treatment, and progress.

  • Educate clients and family members about communication strategies.

  • Stay updated on clinical research and advances in speech-language pathology.

Qualifications

Before we go any further, we do have some deal-breakers. You must have:  

  • Graduate of an accredited college or university with Bachelor's in Speech Therapy
  • Licensed by the state in Speech-Language Pathology
  • Current BLS for healthcare provider's certification upon hire and maintain current

Additional Qualifications That Are a Plus: 

  • MS degree in Speech-Language Pathology
  • One year of experience with swallow assessment and treatment in an acute care hospital setting
  • One year of experience in acute care
