Position Overview

Central Maine Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) to join the Hospital Medicine team at Central Maine Medical Center (CMMC) in Lewiston, Maine.

 

This position offers the opportunity to work collaboratively with hospitalists and multidisciplinary care teams to deliver high-quality inpatient care to adult patients in a supportive hospital environment. The APP will work 12-hour shifts providing clinical management, coordination of care, and patient education.

 

Preferred Experience

  • Clinical rotations in internal medicine, hospital medicine, or acute care
  • Exposure to admissions workflow and inpatient care coordination

Responsibilities

  • Perform history and physical examinations and ongoing patient assessments for hospitalized patients.
  • Collaborate with hospitalists to develop and manage inpatient treatment plans.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests, imaging, and laboratory studies.
  • Manage medications and therapeutic interventions in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds and coordinate patient care with nursing staff, specialists, and case management.
  • Assist with admissions, discharges, and care transitions.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding diagnosis, treatment, and discharge planning.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
  • Support hospital quality initiatives and ensure compliance with clinical, regulatory, and safety standards.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program
  • Board certified (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA)
  • Current Maine license or eligibility for licensure
  • BLS and ACLS certification required
  • Prior hospital medicine or inpatient experience preferred
