Responsibilities

The Microbiology and Molecular Supervisor provides operational, technical, and administrative oversight of the Microbiology and Molecular Diagnostics sections within the laboratory. This role ensures high-quality, timely, and compliant testing services across bacteriology, virology, mycology, parasitology, antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST), and molecular diagnostics (PCR/NAAT).

 

This individual is: 1) responsible for daily operations, staff supervision, workflow optimization, regulatory compliance, and implementation of automation and digital microbiology solutions 2) partners closely with laboratory leadership, medical directors, infection prevention, and clinical teams to support patient care, antimicrobial stewardship, and infection control initiatives.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1. Bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science, microbiology, molecular biology, or related field required.
2. ASCP certification (MLS or equivalent) preferred.
3. Minimum five (5) years of microbiology and/or molecular laboratory experience required.
4. Experience with microbiology automation platforms (e.g., WASPLab or equivalent) strongly preferred.
5. Preferably, has a strong knowledge of:
Microbiology culture techniques and organism identification
Antimicrobial susceptibility testing (AST)
Molecular diagnostics (PCR, NAAT)
Laboratory automation and digital microbiology

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $79,372.80 to $106,828.80 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
