The Lead Dietitian works collaboratively with the Foodservices/Clinical Team and Nursing to ensure that nutritional plans are implemented and standards for the Food and Nutrition department are met. Provides leadership, coordination, direction and administration for the clinical dietetics division of the Food and Nutrition services department. Oversees food safety and sanitation. Assesses the nutritional status of patients, formulates an appropriate patient nutritional plan of care, coordinates its implementation, and evaluates its impact and effectiveness. Provides nutritional education to patients/families. Approves supplements as appropriate and assists in the development of a hospital formulary appropriate to the patient population. Completes annual performance review of clinical staff. Attends hospital meetings and committees and participates in facility wide QA/QI programs.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1) Registered Dietitian as verified by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR)
2) State specific licensure
3) Master’s Degree in Dietetics/Nutritional Science or related field preferred.
4) Advanced certification/advanced practice preferred: E.g. CNSC, CDE
5) Minimum of 3 to 4 years as a Registered dietitian in hospital/healthcare background.
6) Experience with TJC, DOH and CMS.
