Position Overview

We are seeking a board-certified or board-eligible Interventional Physiatrist to join our growing outpatient practice. The ideal candidate will specialize in the non-surgical management of musculoskeletal and spine disorders, utilizing image-guided interventional techniques to improve patient function, reduce pain, and enhance quality of life.

 

This role emphasizes a balanced mix of clinic evaluation and outpatient procedures, with a focus on evidence-based, patient-centered care.

 

Practice Environment

  • Outpatient-focused schedule with no or minimal inpatient responsibilities
  • Dedicated procedure time with access to fluoroscopy suite and ultrasound
  • Collaborative multidisciplinary team (PT/OT, behavioral health, etc.)
  • Established referral base and supportive administrative infrastructure
  • EMR: Epic

 

Work Schedule

  • Full-time with 3-4 days of clinic and 1-2 days procedures.
  • Clinic volume about 20-25 patients per day
  • Call coverage minimal (only covering your own patients)

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and manage patients with acute and chronic musculoskeletal and spine-related conditions
  • Perform interventional procedures including, but not limited to:
    • Epidural steroid injections (interlaminar, transforaminal, caudal)
    • Facet joint injections and medial branch blocks
    • Radiofrequency ablation (RFA)
    • Sacroiliac joint injections
    • Peripheral joint and soft tissue injections
    • Ultrasound-guided procedures (preferred but not required)
  • Utilize fluoroscopy and/or ultrasound guidance for procedures
  • Develop individualized, non-operative treatment plans focused on function and rehabilitation
  • Coordinate care with physical therapists, primary care providers, surgeons, and other specialists
  • Interpret imaging studies (MRI, CT, X-ray) relevant to patient care
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adherence to best practices

Qualifications

  • MD or DO with completion of an accredited Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R) residency
  • Fellowship training in Interventional Spine, Pain Medicine, or Musculoskeletal Medicine preferred (or equivalent experience)
  • Board certified or board eligible in PM&R
  • Eligible for/hold Maine medical license
  • Proficiency in fluoroscopic guided procedures
  • Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills
