Responsibilities

The Critical Clinical Supervisor supports administrative responsibility for the department service functions and works collaboratively with the unit Director and/or Manager. In the absence of the unit Director and/or Manager, the Critical Clinical Supervisor may assume the administrative scope of the unit assigned. Develops and implements departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current federal and/or state regulations. The Critical Clinical Supervisor prepares, conducts and/or oversees department(s) orientation and training of personnel. Communicates with staff, physicians, and administration both written and verbally. The Critical Clinical Supervisor is responsibility and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during their shift. Assists the Department Director in the daily operations of the unit, directing, supervising, and evaluating personnel, ensuring the proper use of time, equipment and staff. Ensure the efficient functions of the department. Performs direct patient care, only as needed, within the scope of practice. Continually assess care and direct staff to make immediate changes in the plan of care.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

  1. Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
  2. Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
  3. Current ACLS certificate 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  4. Current PALS certificate and/or ENPC required 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  5. Previous supervisory experience, preferred.
  6. Minimum of one year as a staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting, E.D. setting preferred.
  7. Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC) certificate within 12 months of hire and Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) within 2 years of hire, preferred..
  8. Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, with 1 year in a supervisory or leadership role preferred.

FACILITY / UNIT TRAINING

  1. Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certificate preferred for Intensive Care.
  2. In Paramedic Base Station ED, MICN, within 12 months of hire.
  3. EDAP Certified Facilities: Completion of emergency pediatric course 1 & 2 within 30 days of hire.
  4. Minimum of 4 hours of CEU in Pediatric Training Classes per year ENPC preferred.
  5. Non-OB facilities: Advanced or AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certificate within 30 days upon hire.
  6. Professional Certification within 2 years of hire, preferred.

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $49.50 to $70.30. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
