Responsibilities

The Regional Director of Education will complete a regional assessment of educational needs and will work with the Regional CNO to establish an annual educational plan for the Region. The Regional Director of Education will supervise the Regional Education Coordinator and ensure that education assignments for the Region are assigned, monitored, and completed. The Regional Director of Education will create and facilitate the delivery of specialty education via virtual platforms utilizing Clinical Educators: SME. The Director will collaborate with nursing schools for clinical placements to create potential recruitment pipelines for Prime facilities.
 
The Regional Director of Education’s primary responsibility is to oversee the success and growth of the new hire programs, standardize educational training, support preceptors, and play an active, engaged role in the hospital on units and with nursing leadership to forward and support educational and organizational goals. The Regional Director of Education provides continued educational support, training and mentoring to new grad, novice, and experienced Registered Nurses (RN) and Licensed Vocational / Practical Nurses (LVN/LPN), ensuring a smooth transition to practice by providing unit-based support and coordinating the needs and resources for each new nurse by follow up during and after the orientation period and throughout the training period. The Regional Director of Education will serve as a clinical liaison between education and clinical Directors, Managers and Coordinators, to facilitate a timely release from orientation by assessing needs and performance in live time. Once needs are identified, targeted knowledge and skill deficits can be addressed through the coordination of available resources. Addressing the specific needs of each new nurse will ensure their role development success as well as enhance patient outcomes. The Regional Director of Education will work to support the role of Preceptors so that both preceptors and new hires are supported and successful.
 
The Regional Director of Education will maintain knowledge and expertise as an SME in a specific area of nursing practice and will be responsible for providing education in this area of expertise under direction of the Regional CNO. The Regional Director of Education will be responsible for providing education virtually and/or in person to support other Prime facilities in their area of expertise. Travel may be required.

Qualifications

Required qualifications:
 
1. Current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.
2. Current BLS (ARC or AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
3. Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)-(ARC or AHA) certificate upon hire and maintain current.
4. Minimum of 5 years as a Healthcare Leader.
5. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
 
Preferred qualifications:
 
1. Master of Science in Nursing preferred.
2. Minimum of 2 years of previous educational experience preferred.
