Location: Kankakee, IL
Assess plans, and instructor or coordinates educational programs for the EMS Program. This includes, but is not limited to: planning and teaching initial and ongoing continuing education for ALS, BLS. Coordinates the paramedic student program in conjunction with area colleges.
Maintains files for all education, orientation of students.
This position focuses on accomplishing strategic and operational goals and initiatives within the program and organization for the purposes of clinical competence, professional development, quality, and patient safety. This position is in alignment with the Illinois Department of Public Health Emergency Management Systems guidelines for clinical educator/coordinator.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
1. Three to five years’ experience in the IL EMS field required.
2. Previous IL EMS Teaching preferred.
3. Emergency driving experience required.
4. Certification/Licensure IDPH/NREMT licensure as EMT-Paramedic. Obtained or have the ability to obtain IDPH Lead Instructor Licensure.
5. Current American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification (Instructor preferred)
6. Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support or Pediatric Education for Prehospital Providers Certification (Instructor preferred)
7. Valid Driver’s License
8. Associate Degree and successful completion of an EMS Academy-approved NAEMSE instructor course and teaching internship, or equivalent
9. Bachelor’s Degree in healthcare related field preferred
St. Mary's Hospital - Kankakee offers competitive compensation and a reasonable compensation estimate for this role is $45.00. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
