Responsibilities

The Certified Scrub Tech is responsible for the preparation of sterile supplies and instruments for each assigned procedure, maintaining sterile field during case and providing surgeon with sterile supplies and instruments during assigned procedures. The Certified Scrub Tech is an employee who is proficient in the following surgical specialties: General Surgery, Orthopedic Total Joints, and Joint Revisions: Complicated ACL replacement and Rotator Cuff Repairs, Revision Knee, Revision Hip, and Revision Shoulder Surgeries. The employee will demonstrate independent practice in the role of primary scrub technician and hold a current CST to be considered for Certified Scrub Tech.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING
 
1. Graduate of an accredited educational program for surgical technologists with a Certified Surgical Tech (CST) Certification upon hire required and maintained for employment
a. Non-certified Techs in surgical technology position in a health care facility before September 1, 2009, will have one year from date of hire to obtain a Certified Surgical Tech (CST) Certification.
b. Non-certified Techs who have received documented training as a surgical technologist in the U.S. Armed Forces, will have one year from date of hire to obtain a Certified Surgical Tech (CST) Certification.
2. Experience and Mastery, in scrubbing minor and major procedures in the generalized surgical specialties, (General, in addition to, demonstrates proficiency and skill in Orthopedic Total Joints, and Joint Revisions.
3. Experience in scrubbing in the specialty surgical areas.
4. Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
