The Registered Nurse (RN) - Cardiac Catheterization Lab provides specialized nursing care to adult and geriatric patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures. Working closely with cardiologists and the interdisciplinary care team, this role is responsible for patient assessment, monitoring, procedural support, and post-procedure care while ensuring patient safety and positive clinical outcomes. The RN plays a critical role in maintaining procedural readiness, managing equipment and supplies, and supporting quality improvement initiatives within the Cardiovascular Laboratory.

 

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care for patients undergoing cardiac catheterization and related cardiovascular procedures.
  • Monitor and interpret physiologic and hemodynamic data before, during, and after procedures.
  • Continuously assess and document patient condition, reporting changes promptly to physicians and care team members.
  • Assist physicians during diagnostic and therapeutic cardiovascular procedures.
  • Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies to ensure operational readiness and efficient workflow.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels and coordinate supplies required for scheduled procedures.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding procedures, recovery expectations, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with cardiologists, nurses, technologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care.
  • Participate in quality assurance, performance improvement, and patient safety initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with hospital and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

Required

  • Active state Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Current BLS (AHA) and ACLS certifications upon hire and maintained throughout employment.
  • Minimum one (1) year of clinical experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab, Cardiovascular Lab, or Critical Care setting.
  • Strong knowledge of hemodynamic monitoring, cardiovascular procedures, and emergency patient management.
  • Excellent critical thinking, communication, and patient assessment skills.

Preferred

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Previous experience supporting interventional cardiology or electrophysiology procedures.
  • Experience in an acute care hospital environment.

Benefits may vary based on collective bargaining agreement requirements and/or the employment status, i.e. full-time or part-time. The current compensation range for this role is $41.24 to $53.47. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
