Responsibilities

The Acute Care Manager is a Registered Nurse who assumes 24-hour administrative responsibility for the management and operations of the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical Units. The manager is responsible for supervising, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating the delivery of patient care across all assigned acute care service lines. Develops and implements departmental goals, strategic initiatives, performance improvement activities, and regulatory compliance programs to ensure the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centered care.

 

The Acute Care Manager provides leadership and oversight of all personnel assigned to the ICU, Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical Units, ensuring appropriate staffing, productivity, competency, and professional development. Effectively utilizes human, financial, and material resources to support operational efficiency and optimal patient outcomes. Maintains accountability for patient throughput, quality metrics, patient experience, staff engagement, and regulatory readiness.

 

The manager collaborates closely with physicians, nursing leadership, ancillary departments, and hospital administration to facilitate interdisciplinary care coordination, remove barriers to patient flow, and promote achievement of organizational goals. Communicates effectively with staff, physicians, patients, families, and executive leadership both verbally and in writing. Serves as a resource and consultant regarding clinical operations, policy interpretation, regulatory requirements, and evidence-based practice, while fostering a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

 

This position is directly accountable to the Chief Nursing Officer/Director of Nursing for the overall performance, quality outcomes, operational effectiveness, and fiscal stewardship of the ICU, Telemetry, and Medical-Surgical Units.

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

 

1.     Must have a current and valid state license as a Registered Nurse.

2,     BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
3.     A minimum of two years supervisory/management experience necessary.
4.     Minimum of three years of continuous clinical experience in a clinical/acute care setting.
5.     Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.

6.     Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN), required for all hires after 1/11/2021.

Our Total Rewards package includes, but is not limited to, paid time off, a 401K retirement plan, medical, dental, and vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, and many more voluntary benefit options.  Benefits may vary based on employment status, i.e. full-time, part-time, per diem or temporary.  A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $105,996.80 to $135,969.60 on an annualized basis. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
